Defending Nevadans Rights
Mark was appointed by two Republican Governors to represent the State of Nevada in the federal lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of Obamacare. He took the lead, free of charge to taxpayers, to protect Nevadans from being forced into a Washington-regulated insurance system. Mark’s work defending Nevadans’ rights to decide for themselves what products they wish to buy has received wide acclaim. Mark represented the Nevada Republican Party in a legal battle over the once-every-decade redrawing of congressional and state legislative districts. Those legal efforts helped ensure fair government representation for all Nevadans. Mark continued to fight for Nevadans’ rights as a State Senator in Carson City and emerged as a passionate and effective leader in opposing unreasonable infringements on Nevadan’s Second Amendment rights and fighting the job-killing margins tax.
Ensuring Every Nevadan Has a Voice
Through his unique experience of representing the State of Nevada in the federal lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of Obamacare, Mark had a front row seat to what the federal government can do when it is not properly restrained. Mark believes that the federal government is out of control and the last line of defense for liberty and freedom in this country is at the state level. As your Lieutenant Governor, Mark is committed to continue fighting for all Nevadans and ensuring that they have a voice. Whether it’s working state-wide to promote economic development and job growth or developing a plan to increase rural tourism, Hutchison has a proven record as an effective leader and is ready to start on day one. Mark will serve as Nevada’s voice in fighting over regulation of our lands and water, protecting our privacy, and defending us from an overreaching federal government by preserving Nevada’s sovereignty and Tenth Amendment rights. Mark believes Nevadans should make decisions for Nevada.
Leading the Way for Economic Development
As a third generation, native Nevadan, Mark cares deeply about the Nevada that he is leaving for his children and grandchildren. He understands the challenges we face with an encroaching federal government and the threat of a job-killing margins tax, but Mark is committed to standing up for all Nevadans as he did when he represented Nevada in fighting Obamacare in federal court. Mark believes one of the most promising and long-term ways to promote economic development and job growth is by the transfer of federal lands to the state. He believes federal control of vast lands within Nevada is unwarranted and will lead the fight to get more of our land transferred to the state. In every challenge, Mark sees opportunity and understands that Nevada has unparalleled potential to start and attract new business and industry, continue to diversify our economy, and rebuild a stronger Nevada.
Working Hard to Create Jobs
As a small business owner who has to meet payroll every two weeks, Mark knows that getting government out of the way of small business owners leads to new jobs and lasting economic growth. Mark has the personal experience and know-how to make effective and lasting changes as your Lieutenant Governor – changes that will put more Nevadans back to work. Mark is committed to continue his work to diversify Nevada’s economy, create a positive environment for business, supply the resources for new companies to flourish and existing companies to expand, and to encourage companies to locate here and invest in our future. He also understands that Nevadans are suffering today. As a legislator, Mark supported eliminating tax burdens for tens of thousands of small businesses to foster economic growth. His knowledge of how businesses operate and how onerous government regulations discourage job creation will continue to provide Mark with a unique insight into how to foster an environment for business owners to create jobs and put Nevadans back to work today.
Focusing on Education
As the proud graduate of Nevada’s K-12 and University education systems and the proud father of six children who have graduated from or are currently attending Nevada’s public schools, Mark understands the need to provide a quality education to our children. Education is the engine that provides upward mobility, drives improvements to our economy, and increases the quality of life for the next generation. We need to focus on core subjects – reading, writing, math, science, and history. Mark supports giving parents the option to choose schools that are right for their children. As a state senator, he worked to improve public education by advocating for students, parents, and teachers – not entrenched bureaucracy – and focusing funding directly to the classroom where educating students occurs.
